*X-rays - Neck soft tissue
“It is impossible for anyone to begin to learn what he thinks he already knows.”
– Epictetus (c. 100 A.D.)

October 2003 - Cape Cod hospital ER
Both of these films were read as “normal” and the tongue base in this position was attributed to “possible swallowing” or my tongue just “happened” to be in this position when the x-ray was taken. This is IMPOSSIBLE. MBS studies prove I CANNOT SWALLOW without flexing my neck or “chin tuck”. Yet the radiology reports of “normal” findings remain in my medical records at Cape Cod Hospital.
X-ray shows base of tongue encroaching on airway, causing narrowing.

April 2004 - Cape Cod Hospital ER
X-ray shows airway nearly totally obstructed by tongue base. Chin is lifted a bit more in this image. Notice narrowing at the level of the epiglottis as well. Inner structures of the neck are visibly under increased tension with the chin lifted, as compared to the first x-ray. I cannot breathe or swallow. I am NEVER able to lift my head to a normal posture. Downward tension pulling on the inner structures of the tongue base is VISIBLE. This slight lifting of the chin increases the downward pull on the inner structures of the neck and throat. The tension pulling on the tongue base, and all soft tissue structures is visible in this film. This tension has been present since the day of Eppley’s operation. For nearly 5 years, this tissue has been under the constant trauma of this misplaced tension, causing permanent damage.
See note by my ENT doctor who reviewed the film taken Oct. 2003.
